Description

Cefuroxime axetil is an oral cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections.

Direction of Use:

Cefuroxime axetil is usually taken twice a day, with or without food. The usual adult dose is 250-500 mg twice daily. The duration of treatment varies depending on the type and severity of the infection.

Contraindications:

Cefuroxime axetil is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics.

It may also cause Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD) which can be severe and need prompt medical attention.
