ROSUVASTATIN

SKU: SHUB-ROZAVEL-10 Category:

Description

Rosuvastatin is a medication used to lower cholesterol levels in the blood. It is a type of statin, a class of drugs that work by blocking an enzyme in the liver that helps produce cholesterol.

Direction of Use: Rosuvastatin is taken orally as a tablet once a day, usually at the same time each day.

Contraindication: This medication is contraindicated in individuals with a known hypersensitivity to rosuvastatin, or in individuals with active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations of hepatic transaminase levels.

Doses and Administration: The recommended starting dose is typically 10-20 mg once daily. The dose may be adjusted based on the patient’s response and cholesterol levels.

Side Effects: Common side effects include muscle pain, weakness or tenderness, and headache.

Interactions: Rosuvastatin may interact with other medications such as fibrates, niacin, or blood thinners, so it is important to inform your healthcare provider of all medications you are taking.

Warnings and Precautions: Rosuvastatin may cause an increased risk of muscle injury, especially in older adults or in people with kidney problems. Your healthcare provider may perform blood tests to check your liver function before and during treatment. It is also important to tell your healthcare provider if you have diabetes or are at risk for developing diabetes as statins may increase blood sugar levels. Always follow your healthcare provider’s instructions and inform them of any side effects you experience while taking rosuvastatin.
