Description

LINAGLIPTIN AND METFORMIN HYDROCHLORIDE is a combination medication used to treat type 2 diabetes. It contains two active ingredients: linagliptin and metformin hydrochloride. Linagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, which helps to lower blood sugar levels by increasing the amount of insulin produced by the pancreas. Metformin hydrochloride is a biguanide, which works by decreasing the amount of glucose produced by the liver and increasing insulin sensitivity in the body.

Direction of Use:

LINAGLIPTIN AND METFORMIN HYDROCHLORIDE should be taken as directed by a healthcare professional. It is usually taken twice a day, with or without food. The dose may be adjusted based on the patient’s blood sugar levels and response to treatment.

Contraindication:

LINAGLIPTIN AND METFORMIN HYDROCHLORIDE is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney or liver disease, metabolic acidosis, or a history of lactic acidosis. It should also be avoided in patients who are allergic to linagliptin or metformin hydrochloride.

Doses and Administration:

The recommended starting dose of LINAGLIPTIN AND METFORMIN HYDROCHLORIDE is 5 mg of linagliptin and 500 mg of metformin hydrochloride twice a day. The maximum dose is 5 mg of linagliptin and 2000 mg of metformin hydrochloride twice a day.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of LINAGLIPTIN AND METFORMIN HYDROCHLORIDE include nausea, diarrhea, and stomach upset. Rare but serious side effects include lactic acidosis and kidney problems.

Interactions:
