Description
Povidone Iodine is an antiseptic solution used to prevent and treat infections in wounds, cuts, and burns. It works by killing bacteria, viruses, and fungi on the skin.
Direction of Use: Clean the affected area with soap and water, dry it, and then apply the solution. The solution should be applied in a thin layer and left on the skin for at least 1 minute before rinsing with water.
Contraindication: Povidone Iodine should not be used on open wounds or in the eyes, ears, or nose. It should also not be used in people with known allergies to iodine.
Doses and Administration: The usual adult dose is to apply the solution to the affected area 1 to 3 times daily. The solution should be applied in a thin layer and left on the skin for at least 1 minute before rinsing with water.
Side Effects: Povidone Iodine may cause skin irritation, redness, or itching. If these side effects occur, the solution should be washed off immediately and the affected area should be treated with a moisturizer.
